Osprey Atmos 65 - Cool and Light

in Packing

Thoughtfully designed to be cool and lightweight, the Osprey Atmos 65 will be perfect for your every adventure.  Primarily meant for multi-day hikes and thru hiking, this pack has ample space and is stuffed with great features.  The Atmos series is a men’s series, and if you’re looking for the same features in a women’s pack, check out the Osprey Aura series, which has all the same great features.

In order to make the Atmos 65 both lightweight and cool, Osprey used their AirSpeed suspension in this pack.  It consists of a light alloy frame which keeps the pack from touching your back.  The backpanel is a single layer of tensioned mesh to allow air to reach your back.  At the sides of the pack are vents allowing air to circulate between the mesh back panel and the pack.  Together, this creates a comfortable, cool suspension.

Additional feature to make this a comfortable pack are the adjustable harness and hip belt.  The shoulder straps and the hip belt are made of slotted foam to encourage air flow and cut down on weight.  Both are thin but amply cushioned.  The hip belt has a pocket on either side to keep necessities handy.

There are also pockets made of stretch nylon on the sides of the Atmos 65.  The front has a large stretch pocket which is great for bulky or wet items.  Two vertical zippers on the sides of the front of the pack offer additional storage.  The pack is a top loader with one main compartment.

This pack can be easily sized down for less gear by using the four compression straps.  There are two on either side.  Tools can be attached to the two ice axe loops or bungee tie-offs.  Osprey’s unique attachment for trekking poles is not included in this pack, though you could attach them to the pack elsewhere.

The durability of this pack is proven, and like all Osprey packs it is made of high quality materials.
The workmanship is excellent on the pack and you can be sure that it will not give out when you need it most.  Osprey is known for their great life time guarantee, so if it does happen to break due to poor workmanship, Osprey will likely replace it or fix it.

The Aether 65 is a versatile pack from a great company.  You will not regret investing in one for your next outing.
